“Art Idol” Wrap Up

Last art class of the Winter session finished with our final project today.

Things Covered In The Project:

  • identify the horizon line
  • background vs. foreground
  • layering
  • colour theory
  • highlights and shadow
  • working with medium
  • wash technique

The experiment may need some tweaking if I try it again…like fewer options…but overall I think it worked out okay. We did end up with a winner for our final project.

Art Can Heal You

They are out there! I know they are…but there are moments that it seems I’m the only one who is overly passionate about the power of art, the arts and creativity.  I nearly stood up and cheered when I read Heidi Easley’s newsletter that showed up in my inbox this morning. My heart is full. ❤   🙂

Thank you for making 2015 so great!   I have meet many of you in person and have connected with tons of you via email, FB, etc.   I am so glad that our paths have crossed and am excited about 2016.

I wanted to take a minute and reflect on what I learned this year and how it can help you.

At each event I meet new people and learn new things.   The common thread among every event is the healing power of art.     click to read more

Lest We Forget

Lest We Forget webWorld War I was suppose to be “the war to end all wars” but we know that was not the case. Many people from many nations fought in this and subsequent conflicts. A number of these paid the ultimate price – their lives. Even peace does not guarantee reprieve as service personnel and civilians alike have been injured or killed in these times or on peacekeeping missions.

Brain Power & More

What a great day!

My daughter attended theatre camp this past week and yesterday afternoon was their final performance ~ “The Liberation of Fluffy the Unicorn”. Yes, they made it up themselves.  She was really impressed that their story made sense given the disagreement on what the theme should be and that in the end everything was combined together. Actually it did more than make sense. It was witty and comedic, fast-paced, and well performed. Really rather impressive what they pulled together in the course of the week.

The evening was a card workshop. My friend that facilitates them has great ideas. I really enjoy the time and can put the stuff together okay but I on the other hand do not – at least not for this.  We tried a new technique with vellum and some sort of a tool. Like colouring it without the colour…the effect was really cool. The conversation turned to how some of the ladies attending had started taking up colouring and even gone out and bought colouring books and crayons & how relaxing it is.

So where is this all going you may ask?!?   :o)

The day just got me thinking of the benefits and impact that ‘The Arts’ can have.

It brings to remembrance a couple well phrases pictures I had seen…
