They say beauty is in the eye of the beholder and that’s probably true.
During my art class a couple weeks ago there was another event taking place in the building at the same time and a couple of the fellows were gracious enough to help me clean up. One of them commented “Wow”. It wasn’t wow, how nice or beautiful but more along the lines of wow, what a mess. And from a certain stand point it was a mess…but it was a beautiful mess.
World War I was suppose to be “the war to end all wars” but we know that was not the case. Many people from many nations fought in this and subsequent conflicts. A number of these paid the ultimate price – their lives. Even peace does not guarantee reprieve as service personnel and civilians alike have been injured or killed in these times or on peacekeeping missions.
Those who do not learn from the past are destined to repeat it.
ART IS COLOUR! Even black & white art is colour…although, yes these technically are not “colours”.
I’m doing another kids art class this Fall and starting with colour theory.
This is the handout/colour wheel that we worked from for this class. These also get handed out at the beginning of each subsequent class to work from.
They are printed on one sheet, double-sided. To make them more reusable and help protect them from water, paint, etc. I have slipped them into plastic, page protector pockets.
Since 2009, Newad has been supporting Canadian artists through its Art Here contest.
There’s a lot of neat work there – check it out! I even have a couple pieces in this year’s gallery. Stop by and see if you can find them. :0)
What a great day!
My daughter attended theatre camp this past week and yesterday afternoon was their final performance ~ “The Liberation of Fluffy the Unicorn”. Yes, they made it up themselves. She was really impressed that their story made sense given the disagreement on what the theme should be and that in the end everything was combined together. Actually it did more than make sense. It was witty and comedic, fast-paced, and well performed. Really rather impressive what they pulled together in the course of the week.
The evening was a card workshop. My friend that facilitates them has great ideas. I really enjoy the time and can put the stuff together okay but I on the other hand do not – at least not for this. We tried a new technique with vellum and some sort of a tool. Like colouring it without the colour…the effect was really cool. The conversation turned to how some of the ladies attending had started taking up colouring and even gone out and bought colouring books and crayons & how relaxing it is.
So where is this all going you may ask?!? :o)
The day just got me thinking of the benefits and impact that ‘The Arts’ can have.
It brings to remembrance a couple well phrases pictures I had seen…
Get out your crayons, pens, pencils…and COLOUR!! :o)
